The Secret Valley: Men’s Mountain Meditation Retreat

Led by Dayanatha and Bodhimati

In a world filled with turmoil, noise and distraction, what we need most is a retreat in a place that can cultivate an experience of life; in a new and more real way. 

Guhyaloka, The Secret Valley, in the Spanish mountains near Alicante, consists of acres of pine forest and valleys and is host to our very own retreat centre there. Off-grid and consisting of stone huts for accommodation, a shrine room and dining area the place is tranquil, simple and beautiful. The perfect conditions for a meditation retreat. 

 As Guhyaloka usually only hosts ordination courses and solitaries, this is an opportunity for men to be on retreat together in these extraordinary conditions. Dayanatha and Bodhimati have many years experience of leading these retreats and will be cultivating a program and atmosphere which is conducive to deeper states of mind and friendship. This will include unguided meditation, meditation input, dharma talks and some  opportunities for physical work such as gardening. There will be periods of silence, with time for valley walks in the afternoon. During some evenings we'll study together and end each day with a puja. 

Furthermore, it's an exciting time for Guhyaloka who are building new accommodation and areas to help get more out of the space. This retreat is for men interested in taking their own meditation practice further in the perfect conditions of Guhyaloka and are interested in giving in some way back to Guhyaloka, all in the context of a spiritual community. 

Cost and Travel Arrangements:

£300 deposit (plus an opportunity to give a donation to the project) which includes accommodation in your own or a shared hut, all meals and hot drinks at the retreat centre, Spanish transfers (in hire cars including insurance and fuel) and some funds for extras or a contribution to a shared lunch on the last day.

The retreat will start with dinner on the first night at 6pm and end with breakfast by 10am on the last day.
