PoetryEAST: Maitreyabandhu launches 'A Commonplace Book'

Maitreyabandhu will be launching his new Bloodaxe book-length poem, A Commonplace Book in conversation with Jnanavaca.

In a commonplace book, you’d write a recipe, copy a proverb, jot down housekeeping advice, making a precious object out of ordinary things. Maitreyabandhu’s Commonplace Book, his first book-length poem, follows the year following the death of Sangharakshita, the founder of the Triratna Buddhist Order, while he navigates the decline and death of his mother, and smarts at lost love.

Maitreyabandhu is a Buddhist teacher and writer. He has published four collections with Bloodaxe Books: ‘The Crumb Road’ (2013), a PBS Recommendation, ‘Yarn’ (2015), ‘After Cézanne’ (2019) and ‘A Commonplace Book’ (2026). He was ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 1990 and lives and works at the London Buddhist Centre.
