PoetryEast: Clive Wilmer on Thom Gunn
The poet critic, literary journalist, broadcaster and lecturer Clive Wilmer will be coming to PoetryEast to be in conversation with Maitreyabandhu about the life and work of Thom Gunn (1929 – 2004). Wilmer has published nine volumes of poetry including New and Collected Poems (Carcanet). In 2023 he will be presented with the annual Lifetime Achievement Award of the Ruskin Society of North America. His annotated edition of Gunn’s Selected Poems was published by Faber and Faber in 2017. He co-edited The Letters of Thom Gunn (2021) and is currently editing The Essays of Thom Gunn. Gunn and he were personal friends. This event is part of a series of investigations into modern poetry featuring Anthony Hecht, James Merrill, Richard Wilbur, and W.H Auden.
